2 males settle intercourse abuse lawsuit towards Santa Cruz college district for $4.5M

(BCN) — Attorneys for 2 former college students alleging they had been sexually abused by a former Santa Cruz instructor mentioned Monday they’ve reached a $4.5 million settlement with the college district.

The 2 former college students say they had been focused from 1987-1991 by former Santa Cruz Metropolis Faculties District instructor Steven Myers.

Attorneys mentioned the 49-year-old males will obtain $2.25 million every for abuse that occurred throughout their center and highschool years.

Earlier than Myers was employed in 1981 as principal at Branciforte Junior Excessive in Santa Cruz, he taught at Crittenden Center College in Mountain View. He based and ran The Touring College Summer time Program, which was described as a “school on wheels.”

As soon as Myers was employed by the Santa Cruz district, this system turned a pilot program that was later formally adopted as a part of district curriculum.

John Roe 3 attended the touring college from 1988-1990, throughout which period he was allegedly sexually abused.

Roe 4 mentioned in an announcement: “This abuse took away my skill to take care of wholesome relationships and to set boundaries. Their legal professional Lauren Cerri mentioned in an announcement “The goal is that this will bring them a sense of closure and allow them to begin moving forward with a sense of validation.”

Attorneys mentioned touring college was tailor-made in the direction of college students with behavioral and educational points, a lot of whom got here from damaged properties.
