(KRON) — Animal shelters within the North Bay wish to discover properties for some chihuahuas after 27 of the small canine have been discovered dumped alongside the facet of a highway in Calistoga, the Napa County Animal Shelter stated.
The canine have been discovered stuffed into a number of crates on Thursday, Dec. 5. The shelter says it’s already full, and a few of the canine have been taken to the Marin Humane Society.

“It’s truly awful that someone felt they had no choice but to leave them and hope for the best,” the Napa County Animal Shelter stated. “Every kennel is bursting, and without immediate help, we are facing heartbreaking decisions.”
Of the 9 canine given to the Marin Humane Society, 5 had already been adopted by Tuesday afternoon. Lisa Bloch with the shelter says the canine are mixes that vary in age, from younger puppies to six years previous.
“They seem to be in great shape. Super cute. Definitely a mix,” Bloch stated.
The one who dumped the canine by the highway will be charged with abandonment. There was no replace on an arrest.
