Two Bay Space bakeries featured in NYT's finest dishes of 2024

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — As the top of 2024 nears, The New York Instances launched its 26 finest dishes of the 12 months. Its workers traveled to greater than 30 states nationwide and ate at a whole lot of eating places to find out the record.

This week, the publication launched a listing of one of the best meals dishes they’ve tried — starting from sandwiches to pasta to desserts. The record featured two dishes from Bay Space institutions.

These had been the Bay Space’s most-searched phrases in 2024

San Francisco: Grand Opening

Within the metropolis’s Chinatown, Grand Opening’s Burnt Honey Pie was honored as among the best dishes of 2024.

“The ‘burnt’ here refers to the layer of deeply toasted honey custard that shines like amber,” The New York Instances wrote. Grand Opening is situated at 28 Waverly Place.

Oakland: Bake Sum

Bake Sum, situated at 3249 Grand Ave., was featured on the record for its “Croissubi.” The Instances referred to as the pastry “a hybrid that captures the superlatives of both a maximalist and minimalist croissant.”

“Our take on the popular Hawaiian street snack – the Spam Musubi. Slices of spam marinated with umami sauce, togarashi, and finished with crispy parmesan cheese,” Bake Sum writes to explain its famed Croissubi dish.

Two different dishes from California had been additionally featured on NYT’s record — each from Los Angeles. They’re the “Mozzarella Sandwich” at Bread Head and “Molotes de Plátano” at Komal.
