Seaside Dangers: Life-Threatening Conditions Persist This Tuesday

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The Nationwide Climate Service is warning of “dangerous, potentially life-threatening surf” Tuesday, someday after the Santa Cruz Wharf partially collapsed amid pounding waves. The climate service says to count on “very high” surf, rip currents, sneaker waves and coastal flooding via Tuesday for all seashores alongside the Pacific Coast.

Breaking waves could possibly be as much as 60 ft amongst “very rough seas” and ongoing extraordinarily harmful circumstances, the NWS stated. The climate service is strongly advising individuals to remain out of the water, put together for coastal flooding and seaside erosion and to “never turn your back on the ocean.”

A coastal flood warning will stay in impact till midday Tuesday with the excessive surf warning remaining till 6 p.m. Tuesday night, in response to the NWS.

“Numerous roads may be closed, and sand berms over-topped,” the NWS stated. “Large waves can sweep across the beach without warning, pulling people into the sea from rocks, jetties and beaches.”

The climate service is advising vacationers to not drive round barricades or via water of unknown depth.

“Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening surf conditions,” the NWS stated. “Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure.”
