(KRON) — San Francisco native and comic Ali Wong walked away a winner in Sunday’s Golden Globes. Wong gained “Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television” for her Netflix particular “Ali Wong: Single Lady.”

Wong beat out Jamie Foxx, Adam Sandler, Seth Meyers, Nikki Glaser and Ramy Youssef. She is the primary feminine comic to win in that class, in response to Netflix.

Wong was honored as the most effective stand-up comedy efficiency of 2024 on tv, in response to the Golden Globes. In her nationally televised victory speech, Wong took the time to offer like to her San Francisco roots, particularly San Francisco’s Punch Line comedy membership.

“You know I come from San Francisco, and that’s where I started doing stand-up. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the stage time that I got there and all the practice I got to become a stand-up comedian,” Wong stated. “I really want to thank Molly Schminke from the SF Punch Line comedy club.”

The particular — which was filmed at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and premiered on Oct. 8, 2024 — was Wong’s fourth on Netflix. It was well-received by critics with an 86 p.c rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
