Man Charged with Spouse’s Murder on I-580 Could Face 56 Years to Life Behind Bars

(KRON) — The person accused of taking pictures and killing his spouse on I-580 in 2023 was formally charged by the Alameda County District Lawyer’s Workplace on Monday.

The legal grievance alleges that Nathaniel McCowan, 49, murdered his spouse on the eastbound shoulder of I-580 close to the Edwards Avenue offramp on Feb. 26, 2023. He was arrested final Thursday by officers from the California Freeway Patrol Oakland division and different regulation enforcement companies.

In keeping with the Alameda County D.A., prosecutors charged McCowan with one rely of homicide, one rely of corporal damage to a relationship accomplice, and one rely of possession with a firearm by a felon with priors — all felonies.

The D.A. confirmed the fees additionally “include a special allegation 2-strikes (one prior) for a previous conviction.” It’s believed that McCowan isn’t eligible for probation.

The D.A. mentioned McCowan faces as much as 56 years to life in jail, if convicted and sentenced of all expenses. He’s scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
