Drone tracks down suspected golf cart thieves in Brentwood: police

(BCN) — Two suspected golf cart thieves didn’t get very far over the weekend in Brentwood, the place a police-operated drone shortly tracked them down.

Officers responded round 2:30 a.m. Saturday to a report of two suspects stealing golf carts within the 100 block of Summerset Drive. The incident was monitored in real-time by the reporting celebration utilizing stay video surveillance.

Throughout the search, a Brentwood officer — licensed as a drone pilot — deployed a drone to help in finding the suspects.

The drone situated one suspect, who deserted a stolen golf cart and tried to flee on foot. Officers shortly situated the suspect, recognized as 38-year-old Ryan Freedle of Antioch.

Shortly after, officers situated and detained the second suspect, 29-year-old Michael Martinez of Brentwood, hiding in entrance of a residence within the instant space.

Each stolen golf carts had been recovered. Freedle was on probation for housebreaking and grand theft, whereas Martinez had a number of excellent misdemeanor and felony warrants.

The suspects had been arrested on suspicion of auto theft, possession of housebreaking instruments, probation violation, excellent warrants, and different associated allegations. They had been transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
