(KRON) — A person is in custody in reference to the vandalism of the Metropolis of Campbell’s water tower, police mentioned. The water tower has been vandalized thrice since Christmas.

Campbell police responded to the water tower at about 2:25 a.m. on Sunday after it was reported that there was an individual on high of it.

Officers ordered the individual to get down from the tower, however he didn’t comply. He lastly climbed down at about 4:40 a.m. He tried to run away however was caught by police.

The water tower was beforehand vandalized on Dec. 26 and Jan. 9. Police didn’t describe what, if something, was written on the construction however mentioned the suspect triggered “damage.”

“We take great pride in our city and its landmarks,” mentioned Campbell Police Chief Gary Berg. “Thanks to an observant community member who reported seeing the individual on the water tower, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and hold him accountable for his actions.”

The suspect was recognized as Briley Bodemar, 24, of San Jose. He was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, possession of graffiti instruments, and resisting arrest.

Town’s public works division labored to “restore” the injury, police mentioned.
