Suspicious Fairfield playground hearth below investigation

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KRON) — In frigid temperatures, a play construction in Fairfield went up in flames round 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Fairfield Hearth Division is looking the early-morning hearth suspicious. KRON4 spoke with neighbors who imagine it was presumably began by folks making an attempt to remain heat.

With melted plastic and stained and charred steel wrapped in warning tape, the Fifth Road playground at Linear Park in Fairfield seems to be lots totally different now than it did earlier than the weekend.

A next-door neighbor who spoke off-camera stated they think unhoused folks making an attempt to maintain heat in freezing temperatures lit the park on hearth and it unfold too rapidly.

“It’s sad. It’s touched my heart that somebody can do something like that,” stated neighbor Barbara Mroz.

The fireplace division is working with police to trace down any surveillance video within the space that will make clear what occurred.

“It affects the kids that come here every day to play, you know, especially kids that live around here. You know? Now, they have no playground to play at,” Mroz stated.

Within the meantime, neighbors must use the construction on the finish of the greenbelt.Police haven’t shared any data on who could have been concerned.
