North Bay Police Embrace Drones for Enhanced Emergency Response

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KRON) — The Santa Rosa Police Division is contemplating implementing a drone first responder program to boost emergency response instances and public security.Police Chief John Cregan introduced that the division goals to make use of drones to succeed in emergency scenes quicker, probably lowering response instances from six minutes to 2 minutes.

This initiative is a part of a broader effort to handle group security wants, particularly throughout pure disasters like floods and fires.

“Right now, it takes us six minutes to get on a scene,” mentioned Santa Rosa Police Chief John Cregan. “A drone dispatched could get there in two minutes. That is a big deal.”

Chief Cregan assured the general public that this system may assist in pure disasters, akin to floods and fires, and isn’t supposed for surveillance.

“The program will only go on calls. We want this to help the community, not violate rights,” the chief added.

A city corridor assembly has already been held to debate the drone program, and a presentation to the Santa Rosa Public Security Subcommittee is scheduled for January 28. Because the Santa Rosa Police Division strikes ahead with its drone first responder program, the group could have additional alternatives to have interaction and supply suggestions throughout upcoming public security discussions.
