(KRON) — A Gilroy man who police say is linked to almost 20 burglaries within the metropolis was taken into custody Wednesday. The arrest comes after “hundreds of hours of police work,” in keeping with the Gilroy Police Division.
Alexis Mata, 29, is suspected of smashing the home windows of companies to be able to achieve entry and steal money registers, authorities stated. Mata is alleged to have stolen 1000’s of {dollars} in money and different gadgets of worth throughout the a number of incidents.
Gilroy PD believes Mata is linked to nearly 20 industrial and automobile burglaries since November 2022. On Dec. 24, 2024, the suspect dedicated six burglaries of companies, a restaurant and a automobile, authorities stated.

Detectives linked the similarities to the alleged crimes and an arrest warrant for Mata was obtained in January. On Wednesday, Mata was discovered by police and arrested with out incident.
Mata was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of felony housebreaking and vandalism. He’s being held with out bail.
