4 Bay Space writers share distinctive memoirs in Berkeley   – Native Information Issues

Memoirs are scorching in 2025. 4 really gifted Bay Space writers taking over various matters and wildly completely different approaches of their storytelling are showing on the Hillside Membership in Berkeley on March 3.  As arts editor of Native Information Issues and Bay Metropolis Information, I’ve had the pleasure of studying all of them and am thrilled to report that they’re all fairly good. These writers vividly share features of their lives and histories with nice humor, compassion, honesty and perception.

Nina Renata Aron recounts a life-changing affair with an addict in “Good Morning, Destroyer of Men’s Souls: A Memoir of Women, Addiction, and Love.” The ebook combines private anecdotes and tutorial analysis in an unflinching examination of habit, codependence and the necessity for obsessive love.   

Summer time Brenner describes life rising up in a genteel Jewish household in Atlanta within the Fifties-60s, and the way her mom offers along with her brother’s schizophrenia, in “Dust, A Memoir.” As an older grownup, the writer herself involves phrases along with her sibling’s psychological sickness in revelatory and touching methods.

L. John Harris particulars his journey to uncover the thriller behind a mesmerizing portray of a woman he discovered on the road in “Portrait in Red: A Paris Obsession.” It’s an often-funny private detective story wherein the writer makes connections between Paris proper earlier than World Struggle II, his bohemian life in Berkeley, his seek for the right croque monsieur and the character of artwork itself.
