San Francisco’s ongoing efforts to stamp out blight and reduce down on crime culminated in dozens of arrests in a single evening final week within the coronary heart of the town.

Almost 90 folks had been arrested Wednesday evening at Jefferson Sq. Park in a coordinated effort to focus on drug exercise, police mentioned.

The operation was a response to neighborhood complaints of legal and drug exercise on the Western Addition neighborhood park at 950 Gough St.

San Francisco Police Chief Invoice Scott introduced the arrests and mentioned greater than 1.21 kilos of narcotics had been seized through the operation.

A number of metropolis businesses and different legislation enforcement departments had been concerned, Scott mentioned.

The town’s Drug Market Company Coordination Middle is targeted on dismantling drug markets across the metropolis.

“Drug-related activity will never be tolerated in Jefferson Square or any other part of the city,” Scott mentioned. “Our officers will be out in force conducting operations just like these all over the city.”
