Marin County approves $500K in funding for immigrant help providers

(KRON) — Marin County is allocating $500,000 in funding to supply help providers for immigrants following the unanimous approval of a decision throughout Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors assembly.

County officers mentioned the funding will “bolster legal rights education and assistance, child and family support services, and other coordinated support services for immigrant communities.” The decision will permit the Workplace of the County Govt to make use of as much as half one million {dollars} to enter contracts with native suppliers.

“Since entering office, the federal administration has enacted 13 executive actions targeting immigration,” Marin County Govt Derek Johnson mentioned within the accredited decision. “These orders have led to an expansion of deportations, detainments and raids across the county. The implementation of these actions has been swift, contributing to intensifying levels of fear, concern and anxiety within Marin’s immigrant communities.”

Based on the decision, the funding may be lined by means of current non-departmental expenditure appropriations and wouldn’t improve the county’s basic fund prices.

The county mentioned it could quickly launch a request for proposals from community-based organizations.
