Man will get 6-year jail sentence for involvement in East Palo Alto homicide

(KRON) — A person who police stated was an “active participant” within the 2022 homicide of a 33-year-old in East Palo Alto was sentenced Monday to 6 years in state jail, the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace introduced.

Ceferino Vasquez Lopez pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter on Jan. 13 and admitted the enhancement of a critical and violent felony allegation.

On the evening of July 4, 2022, Lopez and his cousin Wilmer Vasquez Amador, 29 and 19-year-old East Palo Alto residents on the time, had been at an condominium complicated within the 400 block of East O’Keefe Avenue. Amador pleaded no contest on Jan. 13 to second-degree homicide and admitted to enhancements of using a knife and the intense and violent felony allegation. The plea deal will give Amador 16 years to life in state jail, in line with the DA’s workplace. His sentencing is scheduled for March 18.
