San Jose Auto Shop Owner Caught in Undercover Sting Operation

(KRON) — A San Jose auto physique store proprietor fell for a “bait car” utilized by undercover investigators for a sting operation, prosecutors mentioned.

Jairon Escobar, proprietor and operator of Radiator & Physique Elements, is now dealing with insurance coverage fraud fees for jacking up insurance coverage injury estimates, the Santa Clara County District Legal professional’s Workplace mentioned.

For the sting, an undercover investigator with the Organized Auto Insurance coverage Fraud Process Drive introduced a Toyota Camry into the auto store on Barnard Avenue. The automotive had a single dent within the entrance fender.

“Escobar encouraged the undercover officer to tell the insurance company that there was more than $3,000 in damages to the vehicle. Escobar submitted the vehicle estimate of repairs to Mercury Insurance,” the DA’s workplace wrote.

The auto physique store proprietor was arraigned Tuesday to face felony tried insurance coverage fraud fees. If convicted, Escobar may face jailtime.
