Bay Area Police Issue Urgent Warning About Scams Targeting Chinese Community

(KRON) — Police are warning Chinese language and Chinese language-American residents a couple of current rip-off focusing on these people in america. Based on the Lafayette Police Division (LPD), there may be an unknown group of Mandarin-speaking people figuring out themselves because the “Chinese Police.”

This group claims the sufferer or their member of the family will probably be arrested by Chinese language police if they do not wire switch all their cash to them, LPD stated in a social media put up Tuesday. The rip-off states that “Chinese Police” will make these arrests within the U.S.

LPD says this rip-off is “very elaborate” and includes further individuals to appear extra reputable to the sufferer. As of Tuesday afternoon, of their Fb put up, Lafayette police didn’t report any victims of this rip-off.

“Please know the Chinese Police do not have the authority or ability to send their police to the US to arrest people,” Lafayette police wrote. “If you are concerned and/or believe there may be some truth to a call you receive demanding your money, please call our 24 hour dispatch line at 925-284-5010 and ask to consult with an on-duty officer.”

This is not the primary time a rip-off is warning the Chinese language group within the Bay Space. In January, the San Francisco Police Division warned the group a couple of “blessing” rip-off.
