SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — A mom and her son had been purchasing on Story Highway in San Jose once they had been robbed and assaulted by a bunch of suspected gang members, police stated.

The violent assault occurred in broad daylight on January 18. Two suspects — Emiliano Jimenez, 20, and Tommy Gonzalez, 19 — had been discovered this week and arrested, police stated. Three further suspects had been additionally arrested in connection to the assault.

The mom and son had been purchasing at shops on the 3000 block of Story Highway at 1:33 p.m. January 18 when the son was attacked, the San Jose Police Division stated.

“The suspects violently assaulted the juvenile victim, causing him to lose consciousness,” SJPD spokesperson Stacie Shih wrote. When the sufferer’s mom tried to intervene and defend her unconscious son, she was additionally assaulted by the gang members, police stated.

The group fled from the scene earlier than law enforcement officials arrived.

SJPD Gang Investigations Unit detectives started a complete investigation and recognized the 5 suspects as Jimenez, Gonzalez, and 18-year-old Mario Perez, and two boys who’re youthful than 18, Shih stated. The entire suspects reside in San Jose and police described the assault as “gang-motivated.”

Detectives arrested Perez and the 2 boys on February 12.

“During the arrest and search warrant execution for the two juvenile suspects, SJPD located two illegal firearms. The juvenile suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for robbery, assault, and various firearm-related crimes,” Shih wrote.

On March 4, Jimenez and Gonzalez had been booked right into a Santa Clara County jail for gang-motivated theft and assault.
