Community Comes Together to Distribute Free Air Purifiers After Refinery Fire

(KRON) – Two Bay Space neighborhood teams are banding collectively to distribute free air purifiers on account of the Martinez Refining Firm huge hearth that occurred on Feb. 1.

Wholesome Martinez and 350 Bay Space will probably be distributing 1,000 free air purifiers to neighborhood members neighboring the Martinez Refinery on Saturday, Feb. 22. The giveaway is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to five p.m. or till provides final at 600 Palm Ave. in Martinez.

Each teams have been vocal about stronger protections for the neighborhood and larger accountability from the refinery.  Wholesome Martinez stated its aim is to mitigate the affect that hazardous air high quality has on residents confronted with frequent air high quality incidents.

“Our community doesn’t trust PBF Energy and the Martinez Refining Company,” said Healthy Martinez member Justin Gomez. “Until we can see policy shifts that disincentivize operational cultures that allow repeated large scale incidents that harm workers and Martinez residents, we have to make sure we are doing what we can to prepare for the next one – it feels inevitable.”
