(KRON) — A prolonged chase involving a Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter was triggered by one Petaluma man’s intoxicated journey to an In-N-Out Burger restaurant, police mentioned.

Somebody referred to as police simply earlier than 7 p.m. on March 9 to report a suspected drunk driver who was in an In-N-Out Burger drive-thru line in Petaluma. The driving force, Christian Gaussen-Butler, gave the impression to be intoxicated whereas officers stopped and questioned him, the Petaluma Police Division mentioned.

Gaussen-Butler, 26, determined to flee from police by driving onto Freeway 101 and rushing, based on PPD. “Officers pursued Gaussen-Butler for approximately three miles on southbound Highway 101 before ultimately terminating the pursuit based on Gaussen-Butler’s erratic lane changes, excessive speed, and passing other motorists on the shoulder,” PPD wrote.

Officers overlooked Gaussen-Butler’s automotive simply previous to the San Antonio Highway exit. Ten minutes later, the automotive crashed into an influence pole. A California Freeway Patrol helicopter, Henry-1, noticed the motive force hiding on a heavily-wooded hillside 1 / 4 mile from the crash scene.
