SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Elizabeth Holmes was as soon as American’s youngest self-made billionaire, a star in Silicon Valley’s biotech trade, and a canopy lady on Fortune journal. Holmes begins working as a regulation clerk by 8 a.m. “So many of these women don’t have anyone, and once they’re in there, they’re forgotten. Human beings are not made to be in cells,” Holmes instructed Folks.

She passes the time by studying books, attending remedy periods, and writing patents for brand new innovations.

Holmes hasn’t given up on her dream of creating healthcare reasonably priced and getting again to her profession in biotech, Folks reported. “There is not a day I have not continued to work on my research and inventions. I remain completely committed to my dream of making affordable healthcare solutions available to everyone,” she stated.

Throughout her 2022 trial, prosecutor Jeffrey Schenk stated, “Elizabeth Holmes had a choice to make. She could watch Theranos slowly fail, or she could make a different decision. Holmes made a decision to defraud her investors and patients. That choice was not only callous, it was criminal.”

The dramatic downfall of Theranos threw a vibrant mild on Silicon Valley’s darkish aspect, exposing how its tradition of hype and ambition might veer into lies. Holmes’ co-conspirator and ex-boyfriend, Sunny Balwani, was sentenced to almost 13 years.

U.S. District Choose Edward Davila, who presided over Holmes and Balwani’s fraud trials in San Jose, sentenced Holmes to serve 11 years in jail. She is going to serve not more than 9 years with good habits.

At Holmes’ sentencing, Choose Davila stated, “This case is so troubling on so many, so many levels. The tragedy of this case is that Ms. Holmes is brilliant. She had creative ideas. She was a woman moving into an industry that was dominated by, and let’s face it, male ego. This is a fraud case where an exciting venture went forward with great expectations and hope only to be dashed by untruth, misrepresentations, hubris, and plain lies.”
