(KRON) — Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao is now dealing with legal fees after being indicted by a federal grand jury. The San Francisco Chronicle first reported the indictment.
The indictment comes after final yr’s FBI raid of Thao’s Oakland house. Thao was recalled in November’s election after serving two years as Oakland’s mayor. Thao’s remaining day in workplace was in December.

Because the FBI raid again in June, Thao has repeatedly claimed her innocence and stated she isn’t the goal of the investigation. In her exit interview as mayor final month, Thao informed KRON4, “I’m innocent. I’ve done nothing wrong.”
