Former Oakland Council Staffer Launches Bid for Mayor!

(BCN) — Renia Webb, a former staffer for ousted Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, has run-for-oakland-mayor/” title=”Barbara Lee Takes the Next Step: Exploring Her … for … Mayor!”>filed papers with the town about her intention to run within the election to exchange her.

Webb filed the paperwork in November and Monday launched an announcement saying her candidacy.

“My Oakland roots run deep, with family ties in this area for more than 100 years. I love my hometown and am driven to serve our community,” Webb mentioned. “I’ve raised four amazing children here and their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life fuels me everyday. Like my children’s potential, the potential of Oakland is limitless. And I look forward to making our city a top destination for families, businesses, tourists, and more.”

Oakland metropolis council weighs troublesome finances selections in face of huge deficit

Webb served as Thao’s chief of employees whereas Thao was a member of the Metropolis Council and at the moment works as an educator at Crocker Highlands Elementary College, in line with her LinkedIn profile.

A gun security advocate, Webb works with the group Mothers Demand Motion for Gun Sense in America on the state stage to push for gun security laws.

She says her priorities embody public well being, security, reasonably priced housing, training, financial revitalization and monetary accountability.

The election to exchange Thao is predicted to be held on April 15.

She was on the dropping finish of a Nov. 5 recall election, with 60.62 p.c of voters marking ballots in favor of her removing.

Along with Webb, six different folks have thrown their hat into the mayoral election ring to date, in line with the town’s election web site, together with former Oakland metropolis councilmember Loren Taylor, Tyron Jordan, Mindy Pechenuk, Fabian Robinson, Elizabeth Swaney and Larry Lionel Younger Jr.
