SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A younger black-crowned night time heron continues to recuperate after being present in a San Francisco tree tangled in fishing line with a hook in its invoice, the SF Animal Care and Management mentioned in an replace Monday.

On Saturday morning, metropolis wildlife officers responded to a report from the SF Nationwide Maritime Historic Park of a heron caught in a tree at Fisherman’s Wharf. An animal management officer scaled a San Francisco Hearth Division truck ladder to achieve the struggling fowl. After the juvenile heron was free of the fishing line, it was introduced down the ladder to be transported for medical care.

A crowd of spectators on the wharf cheered on the rescue efforts, wildlife officers mentioned.

On Monday, Animal Care and Management offered an replace from the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. “He did really well, stabilized here for 3 days,” the company mentioned. “He actually gained nearly 50 grams of body weight.”

The younger heron was transferred Monday to the Worldwide Hen Rescue in Fairfield to have the hook surgically eliminated and proceed rehabilitation, officers mentioned.
