High-Tech Pursuit: San Mateo Police Capture Theft Suspect Hiding Under Freeway Overpass

(KRON) — The San Mateo Police Division mentioned a 19-year-old retail theft suspect was arrested with the assistance of a drone and pepper spray launcher after he stole alcohol from a Walgreens retailer and hid below a freeway overpass Friday afternoon.

San Mateo PD confirmed it was alerted by a Walgreens retailer worker that the suspect had taken off on a bicycle. Police mentioned the suspect, recognized as Wilfran PerezGomez of San Mateo, didn’t comply with officers’ instructions to return out and give up. After an hour of negotiations, officers used a non-lethal launcher to deploy pepper spray close to Perez, which pressured him to exit.

Perez was taken to San Mateo County Jail the place he faces a number of fees, together with felony resisting a police officer, obstructing or resisting a police officer, and shoplifting.
