SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned a 25-year-old suspected drug trafficker from Queensland, Australia was arrested Tuesday at San Francisco Worldwide Airport (SFO) with 21 kilograms of methamphetamine inside her checked baggage. Officers mentioned the meth discovery equals to 44 lbs.

Investigators mentioned Yasmin Vantongeren, 25, instructed authorities that her good friend in Australia supplied her a “paid vacation to the U.S. in exchange for her bringing a suitcase to Brisbane, Australia.” Vantongeren allegedly acknowledged that she was promised a fee of “$10K – 15K AUD” when she returned with the briefcase.
The suspect mentioned she flew to Los Angeles to fulfill with a random individual and switched out her black suitcase for a unique black suitcase with a lock on it. Vantongeren was at SFO en route again house when airport officers flagged her as a suspected drug trafficker and searched her bag.
Authorities mentioned the bags contained “20 individually sealed bags of methamphetamine, and 40 vacuum sealed bags of packaging material. There were also pieces of coffee-stained cloths inside the bag and lining.”
When questioned by authorities, Vantongeren allegedly mentioned “she had packed the bag and knew what was inside it.”
Vantongeren pled not responsible to felony costs and stays in custody with out bail.
