(KRON) — An 11-year-old wolf named Sequoia died just lately on the Oakland Zoo. The wolf has a number of offspring within the zoo, together with wolves Arroyo, Lassen, Sonora, and Anza.
“We are heartbroken to share the passing of Sequoia. We are monitoring the wolf pack closely, but so far, they are coping well with the loss of their dad,” zoo officers wrote Wednesday. The pack lives within the zoo’s sprawling California Path exhibit.
Zookeeper Alicia mentioned, “Much like his namesake, Sequoia was a tall, proud, majestic pillar of California Trail. He was the bedrock for his mate Siskiyou, but really came into his own when he got to raise four cubs. His legacy and impact live on in his offspring and in the many stories we will all share about him for years to come.”
Earlier this February, Sequoia skilled a fast and sudden decline in well being earlier than he was euthanized, in accordance with the Oakland Zoo.
