(KRON) — The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Workplace arrested a person who it believes tried to steal a airplane from the county airport in October, the sheriff’s workplace introduced Tuesday.
On the morning of Oct. 13, deputies have been dispatched to the airport for the report of a person making an attempt to steal planes.
SCSO mentioned a mechanic was engaged on a non-public airplane when a person opened the airplane’s door. The mechanic informed him to depart, and the suspect ran in the direction of an space with a number of personal planes.

The person entered one airplane, began the ignition and turned on a number of lights, officers mentioned. The mechanic chased him out of the airplane, and the suspect bumped into the woods.
A search involving a drone, Ok-9 and helicopter didn’t find the suspect, however neighborhood members offered ideas that pointed to 29-year-old Augustin Ortiz because the suspect.

Ortiz was arrested by Santa Rosa police on Jan. 12. He was booked into jail for taking an plane with out consent and trespassing in an “airport posted area.”
Ortiz was launched on a $0 bail.
