Man killed by particles on Watsonville seaside final week recognized

(BCN) — A Watsonville man who died after he was trapped by particles washed up by excessive surf final week alongside a Monterey Bay seaside has been recognized. David Koons, 64, grew to become trapped at Sundown State Seaside close to Watsonville, after a big wave washed particles ashore about 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 23, in response to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Workplace.

Koons was taken to a hospital, the place he was pronounced lifeless, in response to sheriff’s spokesperson Ashley Keehn. The excessive surf was generated by latest storms that battered the coast final week and in addition led to the partial collapse of the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf.
