Oakland College Students Stage Walkout to Challenge Trump’s Immigration Policies

OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — College students at an Oakland highschool walked out of their lessons Monday morning to protest the Trump administration’s immigration insurance policies. The protest was half of a bigger motion often known as “A Day Without Immigrants,” aimed toward sending a message to the federal authorities and President Donald Trump.

“I walked out today for immigrants and also my family who came here,” stated Cristal Barrosojuarez, a participant within the rally.

“It’s been very difficult and hard and hurtful. Especially the deportations of family. Children being ripped away from their families just for wanting a better life,” Barrosojuarez added.

Since taking workplace in January, President Trump has advocated for the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants and has elevated efforts to restrict immigration and improve border safety.
