Petaluma Native Makes History as First Trans Woman Crowned Mannequin of the Year!

(KRON) — Petaluma native Alex Consani was named the Mannequin of the 12 months on the 2024 Vogue Awards in London on Monday. Consani is the primary transgender lady to ever win the award.

“IM SCREAMING I J WON MODEL OF YHE [sic] YEAR,” Thanks a lot (British Vogue Council) and everybody that made this potential! I cant even start to course of this,” she mentioned on Instagram.

In keeping with her profile on Teen Vogue, Consani started modeling professionally at age 12. She signed to IMG Fashions in 2019.

Consani, 21, graduated from Petaluma Excessive College. She went to varsity at Tempo College.

She has been on the duvet of Vogue Italia, and has been on the runway for manufacturers like Victoria’s Secret, Tom Ford and Chanel.

Consani has a big social media presence with 1.6 million followers on Instagram and 4 million followers on TikTok.

Mannequin Anok Yai, who misplaced the award to Consani, expressed displeasure on the British Vogue Council however was clear that her frustration was not directed at Consani.

“Alex, I love you and I’m so proud of you British Fashion Council, thank you but I don’t want it anymore,” she mentioned. “If you have seen the effort that I’ve seen Alex put in; you would understand how proud I am of her. But Alex can be proud and I can be exhausted at the same time. It doesn’t take away how much love we have for each other.”
