San Jose luring extra AI tech startups

(KRON) — San Jose and its northern neighbor, San Francisco, look like in a race for a prestigious tech title: “AI Capital of the World.”

Two pioneering AI giants, OpenAI and Anthropic, are headquartered in San Francisco. SF metropolis leaders declare their metropolis has probably the most AI jobs within the nation. In San Jose, 91 venture-backed synthetic intelligence startups have launched because the AI growth started. These 91 startups are collectively valued at $6 billion. 

“San Francisco is the AI Capital of the World,” former SF Mayor London Breed mentioned in 2023. “We are a city where people don’t just dream about what’s next. We have people with the ingenuity and talent to do the work to make that dream a reality.”

On Thursday, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan mentioned, “I often say San Jose is the Capital of AI.”

Mahan continued, “From exciting new names like Coactive and Figure AI, to tech titans like Adobe, PayPal and Zoom, San Jose has an incredibly robust network of innovators — I can’t think of a better place to begin a startup journey than the Capital of Silicon Valley.”

The Metropolis of San Jose opened purposes this week providing $50,000 grants for early-stage AI startup corporations which have an energetic or deliberate worker presence in San Jose. Mahan’s workplace mentioned the purpose behind the grants is for rising the “AI ecosystem” with extremely educated, San Jose-based workforces.

San Francisco tech startup advertises changing folks with ‘AI employees’

The $200,000 pilot program was pitched by Mahan to incentivize rising AI corporations to decide on his metropolis and lease workplace house.

Mahan’s workplace wrote, “The Mayor is committed to ensuring that despite the high cost of living in the Bay Area, entrepreneurs and founders can continue to call San Jose home and access the cutting edge technology, talent, investors, and supportive infrastructure that has defined Silicon Valley and attracted the best and brightest for decades.”

Grant purposes will probably be graded by a panel of business specialists from IBM, CBRE, Coactive, and J2 Ventures. Choice standards contains the applicant’s dedication to San Jose, their chance of success, and the startup’s moral use of AI, the mayor’s workplace mentioned.

Purposes will stay open by way of Might 15, and awardees will probably be introduced this summer time.
