San Pablo man convicted in 2023 murders of spouse and mother-in-law

(KRON) — A San Pablo man was discovered responsible of homicide for the 2023 slayings of his spouse and mother-in-law, the Contra Costa County District Lawyer introduced Friday. Phuc Hong Vo, 40, was arrested in March of 2024 and charged with the September killings of his spouse, 40-year-old Tho Ly, and mother-in-law, 75-year-old Que Tran.

He initially reported them lacking.

The victims have been murdered in Contra Costa County on or about Sept. 5, 2023, the DA stated. Tran’s physique was recovered from the Oakland estuary on Sept. 30 of that 12 months. Ly’s physique has nonetheless not been discovered.

Police grew to become suspicious of Vo after getting a tip that the disappearances of his relations was seemingly a double murder. Following the disappearances, Vo transformed his dwelling, hid his spouse’s automotive, lied to police, and left the U.S. for Vietnam to satisfy a girl he’d been seeing and needed to marry, in accordance with the DA.

This, the DA stated, added to the circumstantial proof that Vo was the prime suspect within the case. He was arrested on Feb. 29 at his dwelling on Sutter Avenue in San Pablo and booked into Martinez jail.

On Feb. 18 of this 12 months, jurors convicted him of first-degree homicide of his mother-in-law and the second-degree homicide of his spouse. He’s dealing with a life sentence with out parole for the double murders.
