Santa Clara County Education Office Responds to Shocking Arrest of Teacher’s Assistant in Child Pornography Case

(KRON) — The Santa Clara County Workplace of Schooling launched a information assertion on Thursday confirming the latest arrest of a longtime educating assistant.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned Kirk McFarland III, 72, of San Jose, was arraigned on Wednesday, and faces one felony rely of possession of kid sexual abuse materials.

The interim county superintendent of faculties mentioned McFarland III was taken into custody Monday on the Chandler Tripp Studying Middle campus.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned deputies responded to Chandler Tripp Faculty after they have been alerted of a “USB flash drive belonging to McFarland containing inappropriate images.” One other SCCOE worker allegedly blew the whistle and notified officers.

The sheriff’s workplace mentioned McFarland admitted to deputies that “he had viewed and downloaded sexually suggestive images of minors from the internet.” The Santa Clara County Workplace of Schooling mentioned it’s cooperating with deputies, and it doesn’t seem that any college students have been concerned within the case.

“The matter was brought to light by a SCCOE employee, who promptly reported their concerns,” mentioned Dr. Charles Hinman, Interim County Superintendent of Faculties. “I want to commend our staff for their vigilance and commitment to keeping our schools safe. This staff member’s actions ensured an immediate response by the SSCOE team, allowing law enforcement to open an investigation and make the arrest.”

Deputies mentioned McFarland III had been employed at Chandler Tripp Faculty for little over a month. Legislation enforcement and college district officers didn’t say the place McFarland beforehand labored as a educating assistant.  Faculty mother and father have been notified of the arrest via a letter from the Santa Clara County Workplace of Schooling.
