Santa Clara County to purchase Regional Medical Middle

(BCN) — An settlement for the sale of the Regional Medical Middle in Santa Clara County has been reached following months of concern in regards to the space dropping essential trauma providers.

On Monday, the county introduced an settlement to buy Regional Medical Middle from HCA Healthcare for $150 million. The acquisition will combine RMC into the Santa Clara Valley Healthcare system. The deal, pending regulatory approvals, is anticipated to shut on April 1 when the county will assume operations.

As soon as beneath County administration, the hospital will restore Stage II trauma care, which had been downgraded by HCA Healthcare in 2024. Stage II trauma care contains 24-hour protection by surgeons and specialists, based on the American Trauma Society. There will even be a phased reintroduction of cardiac and complete stroke providers. Labor and supply providers, which have been discontinued in 2020, will even be reinstated at a future date.

Regional Medical Middle, a 258-bed facility, has served East San Jose for sixty years.
