(KRON) — A probation search of a driver and his car in Windsor on Wednesday uncovered dozens of illegally harvested pink abalone together with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police mentioned. A standard meals for Indigenous communities and as soon as a preferred catch, leisure pink abalone harvesting has been prohibited since 2017 attributable to “extreme environmental conditions,” in accordance with the California Division of Fish and Wildlife.

Lee additionally informed the deputy that she was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Ramos was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for possessing creatures unlawfully taken, violating phrases of his probation and excellent warrants from Lake and Mendocino counties. Lee was arrested and booked for possession of a managed substance.

“Due to the condition of the abalone and location, unfortunately they could not be returned to their natural habitat and were disposed of,” Windsor police mentioned on social media. “The pond turtle was turned over to animal control and returned to the wild.”

The CDFW is helping with the investigation.
