SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A San Francisco Unified College District (SFUSD) pupil reported an encounter with a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Thursday morning on a Muni bus. In keeping with a letter despatched to the SFUSD neighborhood, a Visitacion Valley Center College pupil mentioned an ICE agent requested for identification and the place they had been from.

The alleged encounter occurred on the 29 Muni bus on Thursday morning, the letter states. SFUSD mentioned the scholar was not harmed or detained; they’re protected and with their household now.

Within the letter, SFUSD acknowledged the incident is “alarming” for its neighborhood. The college district added it needs to be proactive in conserving its college students, households and workers protected.

Regardless of President Donald Trump’s motion to crack down on unlawful immigration through mass deportations, SFUSD mentioned it is going to stay a “safe haven for all students regardless of citizenship status.”

“We have been coordinating closely with the City and County of San Francisco and California Department of Education to ensure we have resources and plans in place for supporting vulnerable communities,” the college district wrote in a letter on Jan. 16.

KRON4 reached out to the San Francisco Police Division, the Division of Homeland Safety, SF Supervisor Shamann Walton and SFUSD for extra details about the incident. We’re awaiting a response.
