Thief Caught Red-Handed: $16K Worth of Goods Stolen from Noe Valley Walgreens!

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A Pittsburg man was hit with a number of fees in connection to thefts at a San Francisco Walgreens, the San Francisco District Legal professional’s Workplace introduced.

Marcos Smith-Pequeno, 28, allegedly stole greater than $4,000 value of merchandise from the Walgreens at 1333 Castro St. earlier than returning the identical day and stealing extra merchandise value $12,000.

Smith-Pequeno had accomplices in each thefts, DA Brooke Jenkins mentioned. Six different suspects joined him for the primary theft and three others have been there for the second.

“Organized retail theft is a major driver of crime and public safety concern for our neighborhoods and businesses,” Jenkins mentioned. “It is imperative that all parts of the criminal justice system, including the courts, recognize the profound impact these crimes have on our community and take them seriously.  We must all work collaboratively to dismantle these criminal enterprises systematically.”

Throughout the first theft, one suspect hit a Walgreens worker who was calling 911 with an umbrella, the DA’s workplace mentioned.

Throughout the second, the thieves allegedly broke show instances and cabinets and threw gadgets at workers and clients. They’re accused of inflicting roughly $1,000 in damages.

Smith-Pequeno and a juvenile confederate tried to vary their garments on the road after the Feb. 25 theft. He was arrested after tripping whereas attempting to run away from officers, Jenkins’ workplace mentioned.

The courtroom opted to launch Smith-Pequeno as he awaits trial regardless of a movement filed by Jenkins’ workplace to maintain him detained. His subsequent courtroom date is March 13.
