Two Santa Rosa restaurant managers arrested for embezzlement scheme

(KRON) — Two Santa Rosa restaurant managers have been arrested Wednesday for allegedly embezzling greater than $49,000 by voiding money transactions over many months, in response to authorities.

The investigation started in February 2025 after the house owners of a restaurant within the 3000 block of Marlow Highway reported potential embezzlement to the Santa Rosa Police Division.

“The owners found discrepancies in voided transactions at the restaurant that occurred during the shifts of one particular manager,” police stated. “Business policies required such transactions to be formally documented for accounting purposes; however, in this case, they were not.”

Detectives stated a supervisor, recognized as Manuel Arzate-Pelayo, 27, of Santa Rosa, would often void money transactions with out finishing any of the required documentation, in response to authorities. As soon as the transaction was voided, Arzate-Pelayo allegedly pocketed the money.

Arzate-Pelayo is accused of stealing greater than $40,000 within the scheme throughout roughly 18 months, police stated.

Throughout an audit of the restaurant’s funds, SRPD stated the house owners additionally recognized suspicious transactions from a second supervisor. In an analogous scheme of voiding partial money transactions, detectives stated Jordan Sorg, 25, of Santa Rosa, stole over $9,000 over the course of a 12 months.

On Wednesday morning, Arzate-Pelayo was arrested throughout a search warrant at his residence within the 2300 block of Tedeschi Drive. Through the search, police stated private checks have been positioned in a roommate’s bed room that didn’t belong to the roommate.

The roommate, recognized as 34-year-old Thalia Perez, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Essential Grownup Detention Facility for possession of a clean verify and id theft.

Later that morning, Sorg was taken into custody throughout a search warrant at his residence within the 100 block of Noonan Ranch Circle.

Each Arzate-Pelayo and Sorg have been booked into the Sonoma County Essential Grownup Detention Facility for embezzlement and grand theft.

Proof that was seized at each residences is being examined, Santa Rosa PD stated.
