Unraveling the Mystery: Is the SF ‘Sinkhole’ Just a Series of Potholes?

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A sequence of potholes is disrupting visitors in San Francisco’s Marina District as a strong storm hits on Tuesday morning. Officers initially described the scenario as a sinkhole, nonetheless the San Francisco Fireplace Division clarified it was not a sinkhole.

The disruption is on the intersection of Lombard and Gough streets. KRON4’s Joey Horta described it as being “about the size of a refrigerator.”

There have been no accidents related to the potholes.

Persons are being suggested to keep away from the world, anticipate delays, and contemplate alternate routes. In keeping with SFFD, the potholes aren’t weather-related, as initially thought.

“The potholes at Lombard and Gough streets appear to be related to construction that has been done on a backup water system,” SFFD stated. “After the work was complete, temporary paving was put in place in the area as the construction crew awaited a Caltrans permit to put in permanent paving. Some of the softer temporary paving appears to have eroded from traffic and the storm, creating some indentations that are about six inches deep.”

Crews are protecting the world with steel plates as a brief repair, in line with officers.
