SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — San Jose now has a brand new interim metropolis council member for District 3. On Tuesday evening, town council voted to have Carl Salas step in and fill the place that turned vacant when Omar Torres resigned two months in the past amid allegations of kid sexual abuse.

Even earlier than Torres resigned, he was a no-show at many council conferences. Nevertheless, town constitution didn’t enable fellow council members to take away him. Torres has remained in jail forward of his trial.

“I’m blessed to have lived here, and worked here, and raised my family here, and gone to public schools here for 50 years,” Salas stated Tuesday. “I’ve got a 30-day plan to meet with all the neighborhood groups and just say we’re here to help and to listen.”

The particular election is estimated to price town $3.3 million.
