(KRON) — Sonoma County officers stated they dedicated to serving to immigrants and offering steering for county workers members after an individual was arrested by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Santa Rosa.

The individual was contained in the county’s Grownup Probation Division foyer once they had been positioned in handcuffs by an ICE officer and brought into federal custody at 2 p.m. Thursday.

“A plain-clothed agent working with ICE entered the lobby of the Probation Department Adult Division at 600 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa and placed handcuffs on an individual who had just been released from the Main Adult Detention Facility,” county officers wrote.

The individual was making an attempt to report back to the probation workplace following a choose’s order.

The ICE officer, who didn’t determine themselves to county workers, left with the detained individual in a white van marked with federal license plates, in response to county officers.

Chief Probation Officer Vanessa Fuchs stated, “This detention was unexpected by our staff and likely very unsettling for others in our lobby who witnessed it. It wasn’t immediately clear what was happening at the time. We want to make clear that Probation was not involved in coordinating this incident in any way.”
