Retail Hero: Employee Honored After Defending Store Against Armed Robber

(KRON) — Police have recognized a person who was shot and killed by a retailer worker in Harmony on Friday.

Lucas Ray Smith, 41, tried to rob S&S Quick & Straightforward Mart at gunpoint earlier than a second worker heard the scuffle and fatally shot him, the Harmony Police Division stated.

Police had been referred to as to the shop situated at 3200 Willow Cross Street simply after 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they discovered Smith useless.

A CPD investigation revealed that Smith entered the shop and pointed a shotgun at an worker, demanding the enterprise’ secure. He pressured the worker to the again of the shop at gunpoint, and the worker grabbed the shotgun to disarm him.

Whereas the 2 tussled, a special worker shot and killed Smith, police stated. The worker’s handgun was legally possessed, in accordance with CPD.

Each workers cooperated with CPD’s investigation. Neither was arrested.
