Teen killed in Walnut Creek hit-and-run recognized

(KRON) — A 15-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Walnut Creek on Sunday has been recognized by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Workplace as Gerardo Rosales Murillo of San Jose.

The crash occurred on Newell Avenue at about 2:36 a.m. A 16-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.

Police consider the automobile was coming from Mount Diablo when it crashed right into a assist pillar on Newell Avenue underneath the Interstate 680 overpass.

There have been 5 individuals within the automobile when it crashed. Murillo was sitting within the entrance passenger’s seat.

A Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene and carried out CPR on Murillo. He died at a hospital.

The driving force and two passengers left the scene on foot and had been picked up by a member of the family who drove them to San Jose. The unidentified driver was arrested. The opposite passengers weren’t arrested.

Police are figuring out whether or not medication and/or alcohol had been components within the crash.
