SAN JOSE STATE College is likely one of the inaugural winners of a brand new U.S. Division of Training honor recognizing faculties and universities with a observe report of enrolling a various scholar physique and aiding graduates’ financial mobility.

The Santa Clara County campus is amongst six establishments to be named winners of the Postsecondary Success Recognition Program, an initiative meant to highlight establishments that reveal “equitable access, success, and post-college outcomes.”

“Imagine a world where schools with the most Pell Grant recipients are ranked highest, where ‘prestige’ is defined by preparing graduates well to enter the workforce and lead fulfilling lives and careers — sometimes right in their own communities,” U.S. Secretary of Training Miguel Cardona stated in a press release saying this system’s first-ever winners on Jan. 8.

San Jose State was one among three predominantly bachelor’s degree-granting establishments chosen from a pool of 100 such faculties eligible to use for the popularity program. The Division of Training screened these faculties and universities based mostly on standards measuring the diploma to which they enroll low-income college students and college students of coloration, assist college students to finish their levels and reveal former college students’ capability to earn greater than highschool graduates and recoup their prices. An analogous methodology was used to flag 100 eligible associate- or certificate-granting establishments.
