SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Franciscans who raised their eyes to the skies Thursday afternoon might have seen one thing surprising drifting alongside close to the Coit Tower or above the Embarcadero. At round 2 p.m., an enormous white blimp was floating overhead.

The blimp had no markings and was sort of a ghostly white because it floated previous varied SF landmarks and out over the Bay.

The Pathfinder 1 is an experimental blimp constructed by LTA Analysis. It has 12 electrical motors and is managed by joystick instructions from the pilots in a “Zeppelin-built gondola,” in line with the LTA web site.

Based on TechCrunch, the Pathfinder 1 is the world’s largest plane and is funded by Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Based on the tech publication, the Pathfinder 1 is predicted to be check flown in and round Silicon Valley earlier than being moved to Akron, Ohio, the place LTA Analysis is reportedly planning an excellent larger blimp — the Pathfinder 3.

Nonetheless, an LTA Analysis spokesperson later confirmed that the blimp was an A-60 Airship. An A-60 Airship is a smaller plane that LTA Analysis’s licensed airship pilots use to conduct ongoing flight coaching.
