SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Contra Costa County residents with views of Mount Diablo woke as much as a snowy website Friday morning. A cold and moist March storm dusted mountain peaks across the San Francisco Bay Space with snowflakes.

A collection of storms created breezy, moist and wild situations throughout the area this week. Snow ranges dropped to three,000 toes, low sufficient for precipitation to freeze over Mount Diablo and Mount Hamilton final night time.

At 3 a.m. Friday, the Nationwide Climate Service Bay Space wrote that its radar was displaying snowfall on the highest elevations. “You may see some more snow capped peaks this morning,” NWS wrote.

Stay distant cameras at Lick Observatory atop Mount Hamilton, also referred to as the “Ham Cams,” confirmed a blanket of snow overlaying the bottom as of 9 a.m. Hamilton’s peak rises greater than 4,000 toes in elevation and is positioned east of San Jose. Mount Diablo stands 3,849 toes excessive at its peak.

NWS Bay Space forecasters wrote, “A prefrontal rain band will push through from roughly 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. The moisture band is narrow and fast moving with this system. The winds are coming in stronger than previously expected. The afternoon will be chilly and breezy, but the rain will stop and skies begin to clear before the sun goes down tonight.”

Forecasters continued, “Saturday looks like the best day for any outdoor activities as a ridge builds in. No rain, much lighter wind, and more sunshine are in store. The air mass will still be cold, but it will feel much warmer with the more pleasant conditions. This break won`t last very long, however, as another system moves in on Sunday.”
